First day of school

Here's the prerequisite picture for the first day of school. No, I did not walk her to her first class. We walked the school grounds after picking up her schedule last week. She knew just where to go. The first day of classes were all messed up due to it being a minimum day so she managed to already skip a class. She thought 6th period was 7th so she went to 7th which is PE and never realized until the end of class. So she stayed in PE again for her real 7th period. So, which class did she skip on day 1??? Social Studies! And she has that teacher for Art also. Imagine his confusion...HA! Mostly it's been so far so good!
Her last week of summer was kinda cool so we did not go to the pool or beach much. This week has been scorching. Monday after school we went to Grandma's to swim. I told her we were not going to be doing that on regular school days. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting my days back. Monday I spent 4 hours cleaning my nasty dirty house. Yippee!!!

I took a gazillion pictures but kept noticing that they look blurry around her head. Later, hubs told me to look at the lens for a smudge...DUH!!! Remember those lovely self portraits of a certain new hair cut? Miss Thang left me a little gift behind on the camera lens.

Haircut time!

Rosie's new haircut. She's learning how to use product and to blow dry and use a round brush. She has straight hair but it tangles easily. Anti-frizz product makes a world of difference.
She really wanted a short bob. I kinda thought she might want to grow her hair out. Now that I see it I think it is adorable and she looks so much more grown up. More her age!

self-portrait!!!
This is what Kassie was doing the whole time we were playing with our hair. Rose said she looked dead.
School starts Monday! Yay for me!!!

A day in Julian

Well, summer is almost over. What better way to use up a full day than to drive to the mountains then return through the desert? So we invited our sweet friend Kathleen and hit the road.
In Mt. Laguna there are overlooks of the desert below. This is the first one.
"I'm too cool for school"!
Lunch in Julian. The place was packed. We actually had to wait for a table. Kinda weird considering it was mid-week in their off season.
What a ham! Then we went shopping. First stop...the candy store.
Later, after my feet almost fell off from all the walking, we stopped for some famous Julian apple pie. It was delish even if the apples were store bought(not apple season here yet). On our way out of town we stopped at the turn of the century jail house. The girls actually thought it was still being used today...Ha!
Buds!

I was wishing I could put them on the other side of the bars. No such luck...they were locked!
We left Julian via the desert. It definitely took a lot longer to get home but at least we were not sitting home bored.
Apparently, the new cool thing is to collect granite rocks.
Bestest buds! (they looked all over Julian trying to find something they could both afford that matched. Finally, at the last store they found these bracelets for $1.00)**my eyes are rolling still**
2friends + 2gether = 4ever!
Self portrait taken on the drive home.

Swim lessons, shopping and general boredom...

This is the YMCA pool we have been going to and Rose has been taking her swim lessons at. There is a huge lap pool to the left of this one where the lessons are held.
Getting instructions before diving.
The dive!
The other kids are still belly flopping so this is good in comparison. I was also on the far other side of the pool taking these with a zoom.

A fun jump to end the lessons.
At Grandma P's pool.
A closer look at her dive.

Shopping at Viejas with her friend Kathleen.
Friday I watched Bradsen and Kathleen at my house. Hubs, Rose and I were going to the double feature drive-in and wanted their family to join us. Their mom said they would come if Bradsen took a nap. I kicked the girls outside so the house would be quiet and laid him on our bed. It took forever but he finally fell asleep...right on the edge! Their family came to the movies!

In the meantime...the girls were bored to tears. I got out all my fancy scissors and some scrap booking paper and some silk flowers and let them go to town being creative. It kept them occupied for over an hour. Fun times!
Anyhoodle...that's all for now!

American Idol...here we come!

The girls decided to write a song.
Funnier yet...they decided to sing it to me with the camera rolling.

They thought I was gonna snap a picture but I was trying to get some juicy tidbits. No such luck. They caught on to me.

We have had Rose in swim lessons since she arrived. She could not even do the basic crawl(freestyle) and now she looks great. Of course she has a long way to go. It helps that she loves swimming. Tonight we went over to Grandma's to swim for a while. Normally we go to the YMCA where she takes her lessons. They have a great pool and have good open swim hours.
Today Chuck left for Nashville, TN for a medical check up with the transplant team. They would have paid my way to go too as I am his support person but we felt it more important for me to stay home with Rose. She's only been here 1 week after all. But I am jealous he is back on TN soil without me. Shout out to my TN peeps...haaaayyyy!

California tea party!
Woot...oh yeah, baby!
"The sun is in my eyes!"
She's beat!
Rose enjoys the trampoline alot. It's fun to watch her.

This video is hilarious. It is my nephew and his daddy playing our wii. He sticks his tongue out and moves it around the outside of his mouth the whole time he plays.
