Spring break fun...day 5

The movies we saw at the drive-in last night were very good. We saw How to train your dragon and the Percy Jackson movie. Very kid friendly. I would recommend either movie.

Today was supposed to be a low key day. The only thing I had planned was to go to a pottery painting store. No one bothered to tell me you could be there for hours and hours. It was fun though. Not a cheap hobby but definitely a fun girls date. They gave a discount on the sitting fee if we came with crazy hair. So, I crazied our hair big time.
Rose chose to paint Tinkerbell. (notice the other little girl. Not everyone showed up with crazy hair.)
I wanted to be more practical and paint something I could use. I've been wanting a cookie jar...they were all out! I've also been really needing a big bowl to put fruit in on my counter. I have been looking at the gorgeous wood ones but they were always too much money. So, now we have a ceramic one instead.
The colors are muted. They darken drastically when they have been fired. We get them back in a week. I'll post after pics then.
Tomorrow will be a low key day for sure. We are going...NO WHERE!!! But, Friday and all next week will be crazy busy. I will cherish my quiet day tomorrow.

Just in case anyone was wondering about hub's goatee...He got to KEEP IT!.....for now!

Spring break fun...day 4

Today we went to Birch Aquarium in La Jolla. It was a bit overcast this morning. Slightly cooler too. Perfect day to be indoors. The place was filled with little kidlets...and there were a few fishy's too! We had a great time walking around looking at the wild life of the sea. I loved the shark tank.

Anylet'sgotothemovies...

Rose and I are going to the drive-in tonight. We have to leave hubs at home because he does not get spring break off of work. We would get home way too late for him. He hooks himself up to his dialysis machine around 8:00 PM on work nights. So what are we seeing? How to Train Your Dragon and Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. My favorite thing about the drive-in is that you get to see 2 movies for the price of 1. Wait...did I just say that? What I meant to say was...we get to see 2 movies for less than the price of 1 at the regular theater. Who else is disgusted by the price increase at the theaters??? I will pay $8 and Rose is $4 to see both movies. I will pick the drive-in any day of the week. Plus, we get to bring in all our own snacks and drinks. No inflated prices for candy and popcorn!

Tomorrow is low key. I'm going to take Rose to paint our own pottery! Fun!!!

Spring break fun...day 3

Yesterday, hubs took Rose swimming at the YMCA. They were only open for swimming for 2 hours. It was a nice break for me to stay home.

I keep my nephew on Monday's and Tuesday's while his mom works. Our spring break is jam packed with fun activities...except today and tomorrow. Plus, this week was different in that I was keeping him over night. So, it was not a matter of entertaining him for a couple of hours. It was ALL day. I love to find new parks to take him to. Today, I decided to take him to Mission Bay. There are little parks all along the bay. We started at 1 and eventually made our way through 3 different parks today. He loved the monkey bars. Today was clearly more about him then my 14 year old niece. She's a trooper.

Tomorrow we are going to the La Jolla Birch Aquarium. I can't wait.

It's Spring Break Baby!

{{Remember to go down to the next post and cast your vote on whether hubs should keep his facial scruffage...you have till Sunday night for your vote to count.}}
For the next 2 weeks we will be having some fun in the California sun! It's spring break! You will be seeing lots of pics like this. In fact, these are already repetitive as we were at the beach last weekend too.
Rose scored a new swim suit. Weird, when she arrived last summer she was still in kid sizes. She has grown quite a bit. Now I know why my sister sent her to us this year in particular. This is the year Rose would need a completely brand new wardrobe. Almost none of her old clothes fit her anymore. Last year's swim suit was a kids size 14. This is a juniors medium. Teenage hormones!!!
This child could care less how chilly the water is. She was going in it!

Yowsa! Check out all those freckles!
It was late afternoon and the sun was going down. All my pics facing the ocean were a bit darkish.
Kassie in a full throttle run!
Izes tyred mama!
I was forbidden by a raging hormonal teen to not post the picture I took BUT...Rose got to shave her legs for the first time today. I took advantage of her being in her swim suit already and gave her a quicky lesson. {Nobody gave me a lesson at her age. I just decided to do it on my own around 7th grade.}

Should he keep it...or not!

So, hubs walks through the door a little while ago. I'm watching him carefully for any wonderfully hidden packages, flowers, candy, a puppy, Coldstone ice cream...SOMETHING. Not only are his hands empty but as soon as I saw his face...I knew! He grew a goatee. Everyone who knows me well knows I hate facial hair. More mustaches and beards. Goatees are the bare limit of what I can stand and even then the kisses will be limited. It doesn't look bad on him. I'm just not a facial hair kinda chick.

But, I don't mind playing along with his silly game. I'll let you all decide if he can keep it or not. Leave a comment with your answer. If you don't have a blogger account just leave an anonymous comment and sign the comment with your name. I'll give you guys till Sunday night. If it's a no then Monday morning he will shave it before going to work.

Now that our hopes got dashed of something wonderful I think hubs should go down to Coldstone and get me a Mud Pie Mojo! Don't you?

hmmm...interesting

Hubs has been gone for 2 weeks on a work trip. He comes home tonight. He told me on the phone that he has a blog post for me to write later. He won't tell me anything about it. I can't stand the suspense. He gave me the title of it and that it is to poll you all. The title...should I keep it or not?
grrrr...I wanna know now!!! Please come back later and leave your comment on the suspenseful post! You can leave a comment as annonymous if you do not have a blogger account. Just sign your name at the bottom of your comment so we know who wrote it.

pins and needles...pins and needles...

gettin' to know me!

1. What year did you graduate high school? 1993

2. What part of your body do you neglect the most? Ugh...where do I start???

3. Beach house or Lake house? I love the beach but nothing can beat a mountain lake. I love the peace and quiet that comes with it. And the fresh air...yummm! The beach house would be awesome if the homes were few and far between with NO public access. I love the sound of crashing waves but I would get sick of all that sand really quick. I expect my answer will be the only one for lake house but oh well.

4. Mac or PC? We have a PC. I wouldn't mind a Justin Long though. He's kinda geeky but in a cute sorta way.

5. Did you wear braces? Never. My mouth was prepped for them but we did not have the money or something like that. All the prep work did much to improve my mouth though. I was suppose to be one of those people with 2 rows of teeth on the top and bottom. I had 4 adult teeth(the vampire teeth otherwise known as the canine teeth) permanently removed while they were still in my gums. Yup, surgery at 11 years old to do that. My mouth is far from perfect but you would never know it was destined for far worse things.

6. If you could be one person for a day..living or deceased..who would you be? Elizabeth Bennett. Do make believe characters count?

7. How many times have you moved in your life? Let's see...
1~from my dad's to my mom's after HS(at 18).
2~my mom and I changed apartments(around 21ish).
3~my mom bought a place so we moved again(still 21 or 22ish).
4~got married, lived with mom for 6 more months, moved to TN(at 29)
5~moved back to CA, back in with mom(at 33)
6~moved into a rental house to save our sanity(at34)
~still in rental house!
6 times!!!

8. Would you rather cook or clean? Actually, this is weird. I would rather clean. I hate coming up with menu's and deciding day to day what we will be eating.

5 Question Friday...

My Little Life
1. Have you ever had a celeb sighting? Not a real sighting. I must assume that meeting singers and the band at concerts does not count.

2. What temperature do you keep your house? We do not currently have a thermostat. I know, bummer! Our house holds it's temps really well. Most of the time I don't need to do anything accept open a window for a cool breeze or close the windows if it's too cold. In the winter we have a wall heater that we can turn on for a while but it usually gets the house really hot then holds that heat forever. In the summer....ugh...we had to put a small window unit in to cool the house down. Our house hit 89 degrees without it. The small unit only cools the front room down well. We leave our bedrrom door open because of the pets. The bedroom might cool down to 80-85 degrees by leaving the door open. At night it cools down here significantly so we turn off the cooler and open all windows. We use about 8 fans in our small house throughout the summer months. I sure do miss my central air and heat!!!

3. Do you notice dust at other peoples homes? Yeah...sometimes.

4. What's the worst job you ever had? I've been blessed with a couple of really good jobs. I tend to get a job and then stay there till I usually am forced to leave by moving away. (Bellissima Day Spa and Cany Blast). If I had to pick one I didn't like as much I would choose Kragen Auto Parts. It was my "out of high school" job. But they were good to me and worked around my school schedule.
If I had to mention a really terrible job then here is one for the record books. Right out of massage school, the school helped place me in a job(thank goodness I still had Kragen's). It was a little place in Point Loma. I was really excited!!! But...I noticed that they had very few clientele. We would just sit around waiting for the phone to ring. I had 1 or 2 decent clients come in but my hackles had risen. Finally, about 2 weeks in I got my 3rd client. It was an older man. He was very bold in asking for what he wanted. Mind you, I was a very young naive 21 year old. Of course, I refused him. My mistake is that I continued to try to give him a reputable massage while ignoring his "suggestions". I should have walked out on him. He even came back that same day for another massage from another girl...she denied him too. I just don't think all the girls were denying the customers. So, needless to say, I quit that day. The owner, an old fat man, told me I would NEVER make it as a massage therapist...EVER! 6 months later I was hired by Bellissima and I worked for them full time for almost 7 years. I never got another gross proposition either! I only quit to move across the country.

5. What is your most sentimental possession? My pillow that hubs refers to as huggy! (of course it's my rings and my photos but those were too obvious!)

Happy birthday Mom/G-ma/Aunt Pat

First and foremost...HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM/AUNT PAT! We hope you had a wonderful day and wish we lived closer so we could have celebrated with you. To everyone else...Happy St. Patrick's day.

I finished my latest sewing project. The material sneaky peaky I gave you a few days ago was made into 2 matching aprons. Perfect day to break them in too. Of all the cake pans I could have the only one I do have is a shamrock. So, we made a green shamrock cake today. It was good too! I got my mom to model my apron for me.(she kept sticking her fingers in the frosting like it was her given right as a model or something...I fired her shortly after)
