New look

I was inspired today by my friend Rhonda's blog to change my look. It has been a while and I am in need of a summery look. I found this background on my favorite site thecutestblogontheblock.com in their spring collection. Yes there is a rabbit in the middle of the page. We can celebrate Easter on an ongoing basis because He is Risen...Indeed!!!
We found a bed that will work for Rose at Ikea. We have not purchased it yet but here is a pic from their website. The bed will fit on our front wall where the tv is currently sitting. Remember, we are getting rid of the tv...soon! The tv cabinet we have will fit underneath up against one side so she will have a table for a lamp, her cd player and a laptop computer we have with games on it (no internet on the old laptop). She will also have space in the cabinet for some of her things. I have picked out her comforter and a throw rug for under her bed as well. I found a cute chair at Ikea we can get to put under there too. I will hang a curtain on the lower part of the bed so she has a private "room". We are just trying to work with what we have. It's the best we can do without actually moving.
Rose's new comforter and a rug for under her loft bed.

Random pics...

...I found when I was scanning in my Mom's negatives. I have not seen a couple of these ever.
My favorite place in the world...Yosemite! (This was my first time there)
San Francisco on a gorgeous day (we got lucky that day cause it is usually overcast in SF)
Hehe...my brother took a trip with us.
This was a gravity mystery. The cabin was upright but we were crooked. We could walk on the walls. (Don't say a word about what I was wearing!!!)
The end.

Yay, my big family just got bigger

My cousin Nicole had her baby Monday evening. Of course, it was a boy.* His name is Luke and he's gorgeously beautiful.** At birth he was 5lbs 12oz and 18 inches long and a very full head of hair.*** Check out these sweet pics of his first day of life provided to me through email from the new mom herself.

* They already knew they were having a boy.

** I have not actually seen him in person yet so this is based on the pictures and family bias.

*** Which is more then his daddy Jason can say!

Stuff and more stuff

It has been a few days so I thought I should get on here and share my super exciting life with everyone. Today baby Stellan had heart surgery. Went well but not perfect. Please keep praying for him as he heals and can hopefully go home soon. Thursday I went to El Centro to my friend Elena's house to help her sister, my childhood bestest, Karen do wedding stuff. We laughed all day long. It was so much fun. I have never cut so much material in my life. Her tables are going to be gorgeous. We've joked about making this a regular get together thing to scrapbook or something. Not that much would get done with all the jabbering and hilarity that comes with life long friends. Just before darkness fell we drove up to Elena's old house where the Clifford family trailer still sits. They lived in this as a family of 6 for 10 or so years. It is so much smaller then I remember. We were always at their house so that makes their family even bigger. I have memories of spending the night, decorating Christmas cookies around the small table, squeezing into the tiny bathroom and even climbing into the really small bed with Karen's mom and dad when I was scared. I remember hooking up the trailer to a Jeep we called the "beast" to take it somewhere to dump the waste. Good times...good times! That is Karen and Elena's foreheads poking out of the trailer door. I laugh at how much Airstreams cost cause this one is worth nothing more then scrap metal.

Guess what...we have a Sonic near us now!!!

I was so tired Friday that I did next to nothing. Saturday we ended up at my moms house to help install a new counter top, sink and stove. (When I say we helped, I really mean Chuck). Sunday I met another good friend from high school days...hi Jenn...for dinner...thanks...and we hit up Target. More yabbery jabbering ensued! Good times! Note to self: do this more often!

Monday was soooo hot. It was a good test for how our house would handle the heat. Not good!!!!!!! It got to 89 degrees by mid day. Yikes! Needless to say we went to Lowes in the evening to get window tint and Target for some more fans and a curtain for our front Bay window. Still installing the window tint but the house only reached 84 degrees today. Woohoo...progress.

Have I mentioned to anyone...we have a Sonic now???

All is almost right in my world. I just need a Chic-fil-A that is closer then Chula Vista cause I'm not driving there!

That's enough from me....*silence* *cricket cricket*

Also blogging through a text message on my cell phone. See, who needs the internet?

Blogging through email...woohoo!

I get to blog through my email now. Talk about expanding my horizons!

Okay, so no one wanted to guess what my brother was dressed up as. Party poopers! He was a roasted marshmallow! My mom was creative like that. One year she dressed my sister up as a fireplace. Oh, ok...I'll post that pic too!

See??? She even has some little sticks in her arms. And the raggedy ann wig made a come back too.

I got all of my mom's negatives yesterday. She made a point of my being very careful with this one. It is a 1940's pic of her grandparents farm in Iowa. Back then a photographer would fly over farms snapping shots then they would come door to door and try to sell the pictures. I was able to photoshop out a huge crease in the middle of the photo. (It was a postcard that my mom took in to Dean's photo many years ago and had a negative made and it had the crease in it so it shows up on the negative) My mom has very vivid memories of this farm and her summer visits to see her grandparents as a child. The farm is no longer in the family and all the buildings have long since been torn down. I have not been to Iowa since I was 10 so if we drove by the farm site I have no memory of it.

Not Me! Monday

Mckmama's sweet baby Stellan is still in the hospital sick. That makes this 3 weeks. While she is not up to doing a Not Me post herself she is going to host the rest of us doing it. Please continue to pray for Stellan and his tender small heart and for a miracle healing/well enough to go home. If you would like to play along this week in honor of Stellan go to Mckmama's blog for the rules or to read other funny stories.

After last weeks Dave Ramsey Money Make-over class (week 4 out of 13) hubs and I did not nor would we ever agree to cancel our digital cable with DVR and high speed internet. While we are out of credit card debt we feel it is just as important to get out of car loan debt as well. But surely I would never agree to such nonsense as to give up my home entertainment. I am not pacified by the fact that hubs has an unlimited internet card with Sprint that his work has provided him...or that I will be able to use his internet card in the evenings so I will not be completely cut off from the technology world.
*
Consider this a truth~I WILL NOT BE GIVING UP MY TV UNTIL THE END OF MY FAVORITE SHOWS SEASON. That's Survivor, Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, The Biggest Loser, America's Next Top Model, Last Cake Standing Challenge...you get the picture. Hubs has his favs too...24, House, CSI...yada, yada, yada! We feel it will be easier to give up tv in the off season.
*
Last weekend I did not decide I wanted to see Body Worlds at the Natural History Museum in Balboa Park. As hubs wanted nothing to do with it I did not hunt down like a madman my mom and let her know in uncertain terms that she was going with me. Why would I do that??? I can finally say...hehe...I SEE DEAD PEOPLE!!! (google body worlds if you want more info)
*
Anyone who knows me knows I am not a huge make-up person. So, why then, would I spend $10 on a new lipstick that is a lip stain? I swear I didn't...I swear!!! And that is why I do not know that after applying the lip stain and giving it it's required dry time that it rubs right off!!!!!! If I knew this info I would tell everyone and I would NEVER buy it myself. GRRRR!!!!
*
We did not go through our storage facility once again and rearrange it...again! Nor did I buy plastic bins and repack everything still in storage. That's work!!! I did not take the opportunity to purge one more time. That's three times total now. Once in Knoxville when I did the initial packing, once when we moved into the rental when I unpacked everything and then repacked some stuff and lastly, yesterday when we repacked our JUNK! Goodwill does not just love us...Nope! I am not shocked at how much stuff we have even after 3 purges. Crazy! It's just STUFF!
*
I did not include in the last purge my porcelain dolls from my childhood. Been meaning to do it for a while. They never got unpacked in Knoxville and we lived there for 5 years. I did not feel the need to get my moms approval before this particular purge...sigh...I did. I do not want a big huge doll display anymore so it should not have been so hard to let them go. I did not keep about 5 of my favorites. Shhh! These dolls were not played with...we called them "look at dolls"...so I was not shocked at how faded and dirty they were. SIGH!
*
moving on...
*
I did not take a bunch of months hiatus from scanning my old photos into the computer. Of course I have been working on this project diligently. ha! So therefore there is no need to tell you that I got my game back on!
*
I did not finally get started on my childhood photos. I'm not excited to get my hands on my mom's stash of negatives. I can't wait to see how the pics turn out or if the negatives even survived the many years of storage. Sorta sad I have none of hubs baby pics.
*
And finally, we did not just today...April 13th get to our taxes! HA!
*
*
*
Enjoy these photos as a preview of the many I am working on and hope to share a few as I go.
*
This is a pic of my childhood bestest and I when we were like 3 or 4.
hehe...I know where to find the best napping spots. I was maybe 1 or so.
I was 3 here. My sister and I won the costume contest that year wearing homemade Raggedy Ann dresses my mom made. P.S. any guesses as to what my brother is dressed up as? Leave a comment with your guess! (the woman who made this costume may not guess...MOM!!!)
Yup, that's me...going topless!!! I was 2 or 3.
I remember that pool! I was sooo cute...right??? (I'm the little one)
Speaking of cute...hot damn! We all were at that age!!! (what happened? Oh well, I'm still cute anyway!)(ha)

A whole lotta nothin'

My life is sooo crazy right now. I have been super busy doing...yup, you guessed it...nothing. Sorry if you were expecting something really exciting and adventuresome. You won't find it here this time. What have I done the last 2 weeks you say? Well, lets see...
~
Last weekend I went to my childhood bff's bridal shower. It was held at a tea shop in Old Town. The tea shop was so cute and quaint. The day was blue sky perfect and right around 80 degrees or so. Old Town is a tourist trap near downtown San Diego. They have all the restaurants and knick knack shops, fudge stores and candle makers typical of any area drawing out the tourists. But it is also Old Town so they have the old archeology buildings and museum type buildings to see too. Anyhoodle...moving on!
~
I had the opportunity to pay back my friend after all these years with a little something special for her wedding night. That's right...she did it to me first! I wrapped her little nothing in a pretty box with a ribbon and wrote on the little card IOU and stamped a red PAID through it and I did not sign the card. Sadly she did not get the joke at first. It has been 5 years and 363 days since she did it to me.
(and there's more in the box...hehe)
This was also my masterpiece. I used a lot of hot glue on this package. It was funny watching her try to break the ribbon. I also got her a panini maker she wanted (actually, I think her intended wanted it). And a pig shaped cutting board. She likes pigs!!! It's even in her email address!!!
Moving on...
~
Another friend who comes to my house often with her kids called with a concern about my landlord's son. He's in L.O.V.E!!! With her daughter who is 3 years older and NOT interested. For that matter, she's not even allowed to date yet. So of course I worried...about Rose who may be more vulnerable to such attentions. After talking with my mom and some friends I have calmed down and have not packed my house yet. But please, keep this situation in your prayers.
~
sigh...
~
That was kinda the highlight of the last 2 weeks. I have stayed close to home. Been meaning to take Kassie to the beach. Never happened. She got to go visit her friend Kodiak last weekend and will again this weekend. Chuck is helping our friends install a ceiling fan. I have been glued to my computer checking twitter and Mckmama's blog for updates. Stellan's heart just in the last 24 hours has come out of svt and into sinus rhythm. They are not out of the woods. I don't think Mckmama has as much anonymity as she used to with all this. Hope she does not mind all of us wolverines knowing her real name. I have been watching all my shows on tv. Love love love Adam Lambert on American Idol (will you marry me Adam???). Sorry to see Holly leave Dancing with the Stars even though she can't dance a lick. I just like her!!! Love Shuan, Melissa and Ty too (will you marry me Ty???). Can't wait to see what happens when the survivors merge. Hope Taj can pull off her switch. That would make this the best Survivor EVER!!!! I started watching for the first time ever America's Next Top Model. Not my favorite show but nothing else is on at that time. Loved Celia until she threw Tahlia under the bus.
~
As you can see....my life=B.O.R.I.N.G!

Happy Birthday Chuck!!!
