Not Me, Monday

It's Not Me Monday time. Go visit Mckmama for rules to participate.
*
I would never move into a house, buy curtains that are really long with the intention of the buyer hemming them to the correct length, hang them across the back of my armoire to cover the ugly back side(cause the armoire floats in the middle of the room) and then proceed to go 4 months without actually hemming them. They were not 3 to 4 feet too long either. Nope!
*
And since I would never wait so long to do something it is pointless to tell you that the curtain finally got hemmed.
*
We did not talk about getting rid of our cable and internet for the longest time. And we definitely did not follow through and turn all the equipment in on Saturday. We are not secretly excited that our tv in the bedroom still has cable running to it. (who knows how long that will last though...)
*
I have not made pizza twice, cookies and a homemade cake with homemade frosting since getting my lovely pink mixer. Nope, not me!
*
Rosie's room is not ready for her...a full 2 months early.
*
and finally...
*
I did not eat a huge bowl of bing cherries for dessert...in one sitting.

It's been a year? Really???

Today marks 1 year since I left my job with Candy Blast to move home to California. While I enjoy being a housewife and I consider it my ultimate dream job, I really miss working there. It was a great creative outlet. To celebrate I am going to dry my tears, pull myself up by the bootstraps and go eat a Greek dinner. In 3 weeks it will be 1 year from closing on our house and moving out of my beloved state of Tennessee. Today, when I heard a lawnmower outside, I DID NOT close my eyes and pretend I was back in my house in TN and it was one of my back neighbors mowing their lawn. Nope, not me!!!
In other news...we turned our DVR box back in to Cox today. Our cable tv and high speed internet are GONE!

Welcome to Rosie's Room Loft

This week we are exploring kiddie rooms and/or nurseries. While hubs and I have yet to have children we are taking in my 13 year old niece for the next year, maybe longer. So, I am excited to play along this week. Want to see more??? Go see Kelly!
*
Things to keep in mind: we live in a 1 bedroom rental house. While we thought about moving we decided to stay put for now and keep our lease contract. Don't feel too bad for the child...we live on an acre of land and we have 2 goats(like that changes anything for a teen...haha)! And secondly, the chitlin does not arrive in our capable hands until the end of July so her room loft is going to be a work in progress for her to work on as she wants.
*
Check out the transformation of our living room...
*
This is what it looked like when we were just a boy and a girl who had no kiddo's.
This is after we found out we were getting a wee one but before we bought her bed.
Okay, so the bed is in place but nothing is set up. Yes, we watched tv like that and *ahem* excuse the mess.
The bed is made...tv is still present.
The tv is finally gone and her entertainment center desk is finally set up.
Some details...her cute Ikea chair. The pillow that Grandma said was over-kill. I said "say what? No such thing as over-kill for my teenager"
No, she will not get internet access on that old dilapidated laptop. It's for games and homework only. (Plus we are canceling our high speed internet and hubs has to be home with his Sprint card for us to go online)
I thought this was a cute touch. I could not find any white Christmas lights in the gazillion 2 stores I went to so hubs suggested we steal them from our Christmas box. Now why didn't I think of that?
Hubs also thought of the bedside light that clamps to the railing. This is why men get dragged along shopping from time to time. They think of the details we miss.
I'm also going to put up curtains to give her privacy. They will be 2 sided so she has a pretty curtain on the inside but I won't have to look at all that pink on our side. So, this is her side(clearly I have not made them yet and just stuck them up to show you. They will actually cover the whole bottom of the loft area.)Close-up of her curtains.
This is more of what it will look like...sorta...you know....but nicer!
So the burning question is: where is the tv? Hahaha yup, it's heavy and this is as far as I got it. It will go in our bedroom while the smaller bedroom one will go to storage. We are giving up our cable...TOMORROW! (hence, my doing this post midday Thursday...it's now or wait till tomorrow night when hubs comes home with the sprint internet card)
Everything here except the cable DVR box will also go into the bedroom. I gotta at least have access to my movie collection...and the wii. Oh, and I kinda want my chair back!
I have a couple more kiddie rooms to show you.
*
This is Kassie showing off her room bed in our bedroom.
This is Kassie's bed in our living room although Aria begs to differ.
This is most often Aria's bed. Yes, that is hubs' pillow. Aria loves our bed!!! We had a little bed for her but she has never used it...EVER! So we got rid of it.
And that, my friends, is all the kiddie bedrooms we have in this small humble 1 bedroom abode!

Looky what I did...

I finished sewing my bar stool covers. Yay!!! Let's keep in mind that I did not have a pattern with detailed instructions. I ripped apart(with an itty bitty seam ripper) one of the original white ones that came with it. Then I looked at a second one very closely and wrote my own detailed instructions. It was more difficult then I thought it would be. Nothing I couldn't handle. So here they are. Let's ignore the sewing machine(I'm going to go right into another sewing project), the purse, the mail, the sewing paraphernalia, the dishes in the drainer(do you like my new pizza peel poking out of the drainer?), the iron and towel I used to iron on and the candle that still has no permanent home to call it's own. If you look closely you can see a little pink poking out behind the lamp and rolling pin. THAT'S MY BELOVED MIXER!!!!
We started out with 2 stools but added a third when we found out we were getting Rose.

Don't they look marvelous? (Yes, I'm tooting my own horn...)
My landlord got a new lawnmower and weed whacker for the property. Do you like them? They are 2 months old. The brown one is a boy and the white one is a girl. I'm not sure what their names are. It was going to be Mathew and Charlotte or Ricky and Lucy. I don't know if they settled on the names yet. I was voting for Ricky and Lucy.

Welcome to my dining room bar

It is time to show off another room. This week is dining room's. To join in the fun or to see the rest of the participants rooms go see Kelly.
*
There really is not much to see. I went back and forth on whether I should join in this week even. After all, there is no actual dining room in my cute little rental house. We have a bar. This is a picture I posted in my kitchen tour. However, I am in the middle or redoing the bar stools. I got them at Ikea and had a choice in the white covers or a dark blue denim looking cover. The blue was not good...in fact ewwww! But the white get so dirty so I am sewing myself new ones. With the excitement of last weekends wedding I just have not gotten around to it till...well...now!
The machine is out and ready.
I ripped the seams of one of the white covers so I could use it as a pattern. The new pieces are now cut.
This is the new material that will be going on the stools. I wish I could wow you with the finished product but this is truly where I am at right now (as in, I just took these pics a minute ago).
GUESS WHAT I GOT??!!!!!!
Yay! I now owe my hubs in blood, sweat and tears. The deal is I have to make the occasional loaf of bread from scratch, his work lunches and read a couple Dr. Laura books. Is it worth it?
YES!!!!!!!!!!But I made him get me this little gem to go with it.

These are my flowers I carried in my friends wedding last weekend. They are gorgeous but the tulips are still growing. I noticed after a few days the bouquet was changing. I thought the tulips were slipping out of the ribbon holding them together. A few more days went by and it kept getting worse. So I pulled one out to see and nope, not slipping, but growing.

This is what it looked like for the wedding.

A very long post...

These are very much so out of order. I spent a long time yesterday trying to get the pics on facebook in order. I am reclaiming my day today and saying phooey...who needs order. (if you have a facebook account go look at more pics over there)
Karen and Eddie (brother)
The flower girls were adorable.
Karen's immediate family
They are daughters of the grooms friend.

Eddie was also one of my best friends growing up.
Suzan, bride's sister
Brittany, bride's niece
Elena, bride's sister(another best friend of mine) Ok...the whole family is my best friend!

The view from the reception
Another view I had from the reception.

Check out that view from the wedding site.
It was gorgeous and the sun popped out right after the ceremony. Yup, I got a bad burn on my shoulders to prove it.
This was at the rehearsal dinner. It's blurry but I kinda like it a lot.
We just got back to the beach condo after getting our mani/pedi's.
Part of their dance. Yes, they had lessons. Although Karen is a natural.
